Eye primers aid in the smooth application of eye shadow, prevent it
from accumulating in eyelid creases, and improve its longevity. Eyelid primers are lotions,bases,gel,cream like substances used to make eye shadows pop and even out the skin-tone of the eyelid.They intensify the color of the eye shadows and keep them from
smearing or creasing by reducing the oiliness of the lids. It is applied all over the lid and up to the brow bone before applying any shadow.Primer is usually applied with a brush or your finger.

There is a big difference between applying eyeshadow with an eyelid primer and applying eyeshadow without an eyelid primer. its very vital to having "correct" makeup especially for fleshy toned looks,fashion looks,bridal looks. if a professional makeup artist does not have one of these,its like sacrilege!
